Great South Wall, Poolbeg Lighthouse

At JPD Civil we sometimes receive unusual one off civil engineering projects from our clients. On request from Dublin Port Company, JPD Civil was tasked with some preservation works on the Great South Wall, Poolbeg Lighthouse within the port area of Dublin.

The works required the reinstatement of some very large rock armour sea defence boulders. Washed up onto the Great South Wall during the recent winter storms. Other works also required our team to retrieve some pier wall stone blocks dislodged during the winter storms and reinstate them to their original location, during low water.

With the Great South Wall remaining to be one of the longest in Europe and originating from the 17th Century ongoing works will preserve it for the next generation to enjoy.
